First time I saw the Monk army I stared for a few minutes. Then I tossed on Yakety Sax and enjoyed myself.

yeah, the bots are infact back in bergen in a big way. I have been noticing for about a month they are back. You dont tell by the lack of chat, lol you tell because many of them take the exact same path each time they zone. Best to stay away from farming there, Last time Bergen was bot banned a lot of real players got banned along with them.Collateral damage. Its been a good place to 55 for a long time, now because of tomes and gold drops. I have farmed it many times. Not with a bot, but traditionally. Worst Botting I can recall was at Droks for the mountain trolls. I stood and counted about 175 monks all following the same path, getting stuck in the same spot in about 7 mins. They weill get the ban hammer soon enough Im sure..

Yes, but there is a fine line between bots and people farming.
Take Rata Sum for example: from time to time you can spot some bots there, but you can easily tell that 90% people out there are real players, whereas in Bergen its the opposite.

Sorry to bring up this old thread again, but I've noticed more bots in Bergen:
They ALL look like this:

Grey dragon tattoo armor, same hair. All are Mo/Me. (faces and length may vary).

(* these two look like actual names, but definately look like bots. Same as the rest.)

So, if you like farming in BHS international 1, be sure you do NOT look like these bots, and you'll be fine. Dye your armor, have a guildtag/cape on, farm with the Mo/D 55hp build (much easier too) and most importantly: give your characters a real name lol.

I've reported them all, and I hope Anet will look into these accounts, because they sure look like bots to me. Been there for 3 days straight.

Id say a majority of them are bots but also remember some can be human players as well - my monk does once in a while farm outside bergen tho i have dyed dragon armor.
Things to remember - some bots can have normal names as many times ive sat in bergen with other players and played spot the bot.Even sat in nf at one outpost and outpost actually watched the bots for a while then we made a blockade round storage and merchant and watched the bots go loopy lol.
Also some players tend to have local switched off ( im guilty of that at times after being in la and local chat was on a kiddish topic then going bergen ).

length of time a chr stays in a place also dont mean they are a bot - one stage i actually spent 3 days in rata sum.
Most bots have a set path - specially the idiot bots who run to the post/colum of right side of bergen exit ( quite a few used to get stuck lol ).
On a last note - its quite hard for anet to totaly wipe bots - you can keep banning names and ip`s but botter companies ( gold sellers etc ) make enough money to get either new accounts or trial accounts and different ip`s - remember theres posts about ppl at college or school getting past their port blocks etc and still playing gw.
It is something that anet does need to address - btw has anyone noticed that youtube and i cant think what site i was on but they are getting gold seller ads which appalled me.

Im sure some get banned. But if an average bot account generates more income than the cost of purchasing/stealing it before it gets banned, then the gold companies will continue.
It will require manpower from anet to put a stop to this, which would be taken from gw1 or gw2.
What makes me more sad is that GWGuru is full of banner ads from these gold seller companies, one would have thought that Guru wouldnt support these companies by having ads for them

I mostly see ads for six pack abs or meeting sexy singles in my area. Neither of which interest me.

On topic: the effect of those bots on the economy isn't all that great. Is it? I think the Guilds who hoard Ectos and armbraces have more influence.

Raven Wing - guru have a slight problem which isnt their fault.
Its how the ads get onto guru - guru gains a small amount of income ( im assuming either money from ad companies or from webhosts that give a discount or something for having ads ) towards running the website ( yes guru probably costs a lot in bandwidth ).
Now i believe a while ago the staff asked if anyone sees ads regarding gold selling etc to contact them so they can get that ad banned.Also i recall a problem ages ago where some ads violated google and google had ads banned that in turn affected guru via web browser ( cant recall exact details ).
Anet i dont think will give a website like guru and official website title if it actually supported gold sellers - and guru im sure works with anet to block any ads.
If a guru staff member could verify if we can still notify you of any website ads that appear to do with bots or gold selling - that way we the public can help clear up as we may see the ads a long time before a staff member see`s them.
Also a big problem is - gold sellers can easily make another website be it free or paid for in a matter of hours and probably as fast as you block 1 another opens and takes over.
